# PowerShell launch error

Red text appears in PowerShell and the loader does not open. Check the PowerShell version and Defender history as described below.

## Example

The first error in the screenshot is **Add-Type: Access to the path … is denied**, indicating denied access to a temporary file. Later errors may be consequences of the first. Use the checks below to investigate the cause.

## 1. Check the PowerShell version

Open Windows PowerShell as in the [loader guide](/desync-docs/russkii/english/launching-the-loader.md): Win + R → powershell → Enter.

Run this separate command:

```powershell
$PSVersionTable.PSVersion
```

The built-in Windows PowerShell 5.1 should show Major 5 and Minor 1. If the version is older, open the system Windows PowerShell, check Windows updates and send the result to support.

## 2. Check Microsoft Defender history

Open Windows Security → Virus & threat protection → Protection history. Find events matching the time of the launch attempt and open their details.

If an event relates to the loader launch, save its name and a screenshot of the details. Compare your settings with [PC preparation](/desync-docs/russkii/english/pc-preparation.md). If there are no related events, the cause is not established; send your findings to support.

## If the error remains

Contact [@desync\_support\_bot](https://t.me/desync_support_bot) and attach:

* The entire PowerShell window, starting with the first error; a launch video if possible.
* The version-check result.
* Details of any related Protection history event.
* A checker TXT report, if available.

If the loader opens, [send logs](/desync-docs/russkii/english/troubleshooting-and-support.md). If it never opens, contact support with the materials you have.
